Frequently Asked Questions
I always suggest booking the venue where you are having your reception. If you have a favorite floral decorator, photographer, videographer, etc. that you just have to have for your wedding, place them on retainer as soon as you have your date.
I strongly suggest booking your florist immediately after you book your reception site. In my twenty plus years of experience as an event decorator, I have found that many brides leave booking the florist for last. This can be a major mistake. Because of the personal attention and detailed preparation required to produce a quality event, many floral designers, including my company, usually only book one wedding a day. Securing your floral/event designer after your venue will make planning and preparing for your wedding much easier.
It’s best if you have an idea of the following:
- How many people are in your bridal party?
- How many family members will you honor with your flowers (moms, dads, etc.)?
- How elaborately do you want to decorate your ceremony?
- Do you want flowers for the Alter, Chuppah, Pews, Entry, etc.?
- For the Cocktail Reception, what do I need/want?
- How many tables will I have at the main reception?
Reception flowers are usually the largest cost. Keep in mind that the bloom choices you choose directly affect the cost as well.
The flowers, bloom choices, and design styles you choose for your personal flowers, ceremony and reception will be a big part of your photo album that you will look back on for many years. It will also be a big part of what your guests will remember about your wedding. With that said, your budget should reflect your vision and style.
